The general secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and Manglaur MLA Qazi Nizamuddin has said that the manner in which consistent efforts are being made to affect the election process has raised questions on the intention of the State government and its election management. Addressing a Press conference at the Congress Bhawan here on Wednesday, the Congress leader alleged that major irregularities are coming to the fore in the revision of the electoral rolls and names of the electors are being deleted as part of a targetted approach.
Nizamuddin said that the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi has exposed the irregularities of the Election Commission of India on many occasions and the recent media reports have validated his allegations.
The Congress leader alleged that irregularities in the election process are being done at every level right from the ECI to the State Election Commission in Uttarakhand and even the student union elections. Nizamuddin said that media reports suggest that the authority of addition of the names in the electoral rolls which is vested in the electoral registration officer (ERO) has been handed over to the Delhi based Election Commission.
The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Suryakant Dhasmana, State general secretary Rajendra Shah, spokesperson Pratima Singh and head of the social media committee Abhinav Thapar accompanied Nizamuddin.
