PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Ramnagar

On the occasion of Global Tiger Day, Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR) organised a series of awareness and conservation activities, including a tree plantation drive and a cleanliness campaign. Celebrated globally, the day aims to raise awareness about tiger conservation and the alarming decline in their natural habitats.

Speaking on the occasion, the CTR director, Saket Badola stressed on the importance of maintaining a balance between human life and wildlife for environmental sustainability. “Any imbalance or extinction of a species can pose a serious threat to the environment,” he warned.

Under the ‘Go Clean, Go Green’ campaign, a clean-up drive was conducted in the Bijrani Range forest area during which plastic waste and other litter scattered across the forest were collected and removed. Saplings of fruit-bearing and shady trees were planted in several villages around the CTR.
