Deepawali celebrations result in poort AQI in Doon & Kashipur

The Deepawali celebrations resulted in exacerbating the air pollution in Uttarakhand. The Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board was able to release the data for three cities in the State and the AQI in two of these cities was poor and satisfactory in one. The Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board has been monitoring the air pollution levels for a fortnight before Deepawali. The board added new stations in Tehri and Nainital this year, considering which, the pollution levels were measured in a total of eight cities in the State. Continuous air monitoring quality stations were used to get real time figures for three non attainment cities-Dehradun, Rishikesh and Kashipur. According to the official data, the AQI in Dehradun was 272 (poor) while it was 205 (poor) in Kashipur and 63 (satisfactory) in Rishikesh.The level of noise pollution measures in various cities of the State has not been made available yet by the board.
