Human chain planned from Asharodi to Garhi Cantt along VIP Route

The Dehradun district administration and the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Friday intensified preparations for the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14, with multiple departments coordinating sanitation, route management and public participation arrangements across the city.
The officials said that a human chain will be formed from Asharodi to Yashwant Ground in Garhi Cantt to welcome the Prime Minister. The initiative is aimed at encouraging large-scale public participation and presenting an organised reception along the designated VIP movement corridor. These arrangements are being made to ensure the formation of the human chain is conducted in a structured manner without disrupting routine movement in the surrounding areas, officials said.
Assistant municipal commissioner Tanvir Marwah said that the MCD has launched special cleanliness drives along the route. These include road washing, garbage clearance, removal of debris and cleaning of dividers, footpaths and roadside stretches. He said that beautification work, such as painting of public infrastructure and the improvement of roadside aesthetics is also underway to enhance the overall appearance of the corridor. Additional sanitation workers have been deployed at key points along the route and extra dustbins have been placed at strategic locations to manage waste disposal during the programme. He added that mobile toilets and other temporary public utility facilities are also being arranged to support residents and visitors expected to gather along the route.
The temporary traffic and crowd-management arrangements are being planned along the human chain stretch to minimise inconvenience to commuters and residents. Coordination between the district administration, police and civic departments is ongoing to ensure smooth execution of the programme, Marwah added.
The corporation officials further said that the preparations are aimed not only at ensuring seamless movement during the Prime Minister’s visit but also at presenting a clean, organised and welcoming image of the city during the high-profile event.
