Vidhan Sabha speaker and Kotdwar MLA Ritu Khanduri Bhushan said that despite difficult circumstances, BR Ambedkar used education as a tool for social transformation and worked to secure rights for marginalised communities. Speaking at a seminar on Amedkear at Dr Pitambar Datt Barthwal Himalayan PG College here on Friday, she also highlighted his key role in the drafting of the Constitution of India, which ensured equality and legal protection for citizens across social groups.
The speaker urged students to take inspiration from Ambedkar’s commitment to education, discipline and social responsibility. She emphasised on the need to strengthen the constitutional values of equality, fraternity and justice in society, particularly among younger generations.
History department faculty members spoke about Ambedkar’s contributions to social reform, economic thought and constitutional development, while students also shared their perspectives during the seminar discussions.
