Dehradun starts Rs 50 K marriage incentive scheme for differently abled

The Social Welfare department has launched a scheme to support the marriage of differently abled persons by providing a financial incentive of Rs 50,000. Under the scheme, the Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan approved the first grant of Rs 50,000 on Wednesday. The amount has been sanctioned for Amjad, a resident of Shankarpur, Hukumatpur in Dehradun.

The district social welfare officer, Deepankar Ghildiyal said that eligible couples can apply for the scheme if both husband and wife are persons with disabilities, or if either one of them has a disability. The marriage should be held within the time limit fixed under the scheme. Applicants must submit the required documents and application form through the assistant social welfare officer at their respective development block office. He said that the scheme is meant to provide financial support to specially abled persons to help them live an independent and respectable life.

Eligible beneficiaries have been asked to apply on time so that their applications can be verified and they can receive the benefit without delay. People can contact the district social welfare office or their local assistant social welfare officer for more information about the scheme, the officer said.
