Delhi records 44.58% turnout by 3 pm

Around 44.58 per cent of voters is said to have exercised franchise till 3 pm in Delhi braving the scorching heatwave, informed the office of the chief electoral officer (CEO) and added that the highest turnout was recorded at 47.85 per cent in the North East Delhi constituency while the New Delhi seat recorded the lowest 42.17 per cent.
According to data from CEO, the turnout at 3 pm in East Delhi was at 44.70 per cent, Chandni Chowk at 43.24 per cent, North West Delhi at 44.78 per cent, South Delhi at 42.96 per cent and West Delhi 44.91 per cent.
President Droupadi Murmu and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar cast their votes in the New Delhi constituency. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote in a post on X after casting vote that each vote should be cast against authoritarianism and to strengthen democracy. Union ministers S Jaishankar and Hardeep Singh Puri cast their votes early in the morning.
