Veteran BJP leader and former chief minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari expressed deep concern over the fast-paced demographic changes taking place in Uttarakhand. “This is not a political statement but a reality,” he said. Stressing on the need to remain alert and curb, he said that the Centre and the State government are taking steps to take on the demographic challenges head-on. “Positive results of these steps will be discernible in future,” he said.
While replying to media’s queries in Nainital, the former Maharashtra Governor exuded confidence of the saffron victory in the 2027 Assembly election. “My party is all set to form the new government after the polls and reach new heights. I am confident that the BJP’s position in the Assembly will be further strengthened,” he averred.
Quizzed about migration from the mountains, he said that it was a major problem and it must be stopped with the joint initiatives of all concerned.
Earlier, Koshyari inspected Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Mallital, a part of which had been gutted in a blaze a few days ago. “I am sad because I am one of those who established this school,” he said, adding that the administration should seriously investigate the cause of the fire to prevent recurrence of such blazes.
