4-day bird and biodiversity survey held in Nainital

The four-day bird and biodiversity survey, conducted in Naina Devi Himalayan Bird Conservation Reserve under the direction of Nainital Forest Division, concluded. Speaking of the just-concluded survey, the divisional forest officer, Nainital Forest Division and director of Zoological Park, Nainital, Akash Gangwar said that the objective of the survey was to document the bird species and other wildlife of the area and to strengthen collaboration between participants, forest department officials and local guides. The sub-divisional forest officer, Mamta Chand informed that a number of range officers had actively participated in the survey.
A total of 42 participants from nine States participated in this survey, reflecting the growing national interest in Himalayan biodiversity, Gangwar said, adding that the participants had surveyed 400 trails, including those in the Botanical Garden, Kilbury, Vinayak, Kunjakharak Bhowali, Maheshkhan, Chafi and Mukteshwar areas.
Certificates were distributed to all participating bird watchers and bird lovers. The closing ceremony was held at the Himalayan Botanical Garden, Narayannagar.
