Department directed to start recruitment to 1,649 posts of primary school teachers

Departmental officials have been directed to start the procedure for recruitment to 1,649 vacant posts of assistant teachers under the Primary Education department. Applications will be invited in each district as per the vacant positions as part of the process. The Primary Education director has been issued orders to start the recruitment process.
School Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said in a statement released to the media that aboput 2,100 positions of primary school teachers are currently vacant in the State. The appointment process for 451 positions has been pending and will be done as per the High Court directions. The Primary Education director has been ordered to start the procedure for recruitment to the remaining 1,649 positions of primary school teachers. The minister further informed that as primary teachers are part of the district cadre, the advertisement related to the recruitments will also be released at the district level. The applications will be sought by the district education officer (Basic) as per the vacancies in the district. The State government has been consistently appointing primary school teachers for the past two years as part of its efforts to strengthen primary education in the State, the minister said, adding that more than 3,000 vacant positions have been filled so far. Some candidates had approached the court regarding the inclusion of NIOS DLEd, which had affected the recruitment process. Rawat said that following the Supreme Court’s decision, the State cabinet made necessary amendments in the Basic Education Service Rules to include NIOS and DLEd candidates from 2017 to 2019 in the primary education recruitment along with positions of assistant teacher (special education). Such candidates will also get an opportunity in the coming primary education recruitments.
