To commemorate the silver jubilee of the State’ creation, a three-day comedy festival, ‘Dera Comedy Fest’ will be held at the Institute of Hotel Management here from November 1 to 3. One of the event organisers Bharat Kukreti said while addressing the media that comedians including Sunil Grover, Zakir Khan, Krishna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Rajiv Thakur, Chinki-Minki, Gopal Dutt and Paritosh Tripathi will perform live during the festival. This event marks the first time that those who have worked in the popular television programme ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ will perform here, he said.
He said that Grover, known for his imitations of famous personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Gulzar and Kapil Dev, will captivate the audience. Abhishek and Sharda are expected to leave the audience in splits with their renowned ‘Dharam-Sunny’ acts. Khan, who recently made history by performing at New York’s Madison Square Garden, is one of the most sought-after stand-up comedians today and many others will also entertain the audience during the festival. Kukreti added that the fest will be inaugurated by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Leading actors from the State—Sudhanshu Pandey, Shivangi Joshi, Varun Badola, Hemani Shivpuri, Brijendra Kala, Shruti Panwar and many others—will also be honoured during the event, he said.
Notably, the festival has been conceptualised and curated by Kukreti, who is the writer-director of popular shows like ‘Comedy Circus,’ ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil,’ and ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’.
