Developed, safe & clean cities present image of a prosperous India: CM Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the cities present the true image of the country to the world and well organised, clean, safe and developed cities will present the image of a strong and prosperous India. He was addressing the 117th executive committee meeting of the All India Mayors Council in Rishikesh on Wednesday. “If every city is strong, safe and prosperous, India will definitely become a developed nation,’’ he said. 

Welcoming the mayors, the CM said being the first citizens of their cities their decisions impact the future of generations to come. He said that while the soul of our nation resides in the villages, the dreams, aspirations and future prospects of our citizens take shape in the cities. He said that more than 30 lakh devotees have visited the State for the Char Dham Yatra in the first 45 days, which is a new record. The CM said that in the last four years, more than 23 crore tourists have visited Uttarakhand. The CM said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, unprecedented work is being done in the field of urban development in India. Through the Swachh Bharat Mission, a new culture of cleanliness has developed in millions of cities across the country and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has made the dream of home for millions of poor families come true.

Dhami said that for the first time in the State, Urban Health and Wellness Centres have been established in municipal bodies to provide accessible health services to poor families in urban areas. Animal Birth Control Scheme has been launched to curb the increasing number of dogs in local bodies. Effective steps are also being taken toward the development of green areas and pollution control, he said.

In his address, cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal said that we are also working to advance the concept of Viksit Uttarakhand on the lines of Viksit Bharat -2047.

 In the programme, the CM inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for three projects worth Rs 29.78 crore.

Cabinet minister Ram Singh Kaida, MLA Premchand Agarwal, Rishikesh Mayor Shambhu Paswan and Mayors from different cities of the country attended the programme.
