Rahul Gandhi to address rally in Almora, ex-servicemen conclave in Pauri today

In his first visit to the State after about five years, the leader of opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is expected to target the BJP government of Uttarakhand on the issues of unemployment, price rise, corruption and women safety. He is also expected to attack the Narendra Modi led BJP government for the Agnipath scheme. The two day visit of Gandhi is beginning on Thursday. He will address a public rally in Almora and then attend a conclave of ex-servicemen in Pauri on Thursday. He is also scheduled to travel to Kotdwar and Mussoorie on the day.
The in-charge of Uttarakhand Congress, Kumari Selja has been camping in the State for the last three days and is overseeing the preparations for the visit of Gandhi. Interacting with the media persons in Almora on Wednesday she claimed that the visit of Gandhi will be historic. She said that a large number of party workers from all parts of the State will attend the rally and take the message of Gandhi to all the villages. Selja said that the people of Uttarakhand are fed up with the BJP and have made up their minds to bring Congress in power in 2027.
She said that corruption is at an all time high and the incidents of crime against women in the State have increased. The people of the State are reeling under rampant corruption and price rise.
Selja said that after traveling to different parts of the State she is convinced that change is inevitable in the State in 2027. She told the media-persons that taking a lesson from the mistakes of the past, special emphasis is being made on strengthening party organisation in the State. The party workers are also being trained to contest the political strategy of the BJP. In response to a question she said that the process of constitution of the state party executive will soon be completed.
The Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal, leader of opposition in Vidhan Sabha Yashpal Arya, former chief minister Harish Rawat, former PCC president Karan Mahara, MLAs Harish Dhami, Bhuwan Chandra Kapdi, Manoj Tiwari, Govind Singh Kunjwal and others attended the press conference.
