Devotees throng markets for last-minute Navratri preparations

With just one day left until the commencement of Chaitra Navratri, devotees flocked the city markets for preparations here on Saturday. Aside from the markets, city temples are also busy putting the final touches on their Navratri preparations. Many women visited pooja shops to buy materials for the festival.

A pooja items shop owner Vikram Chaturvedi said that devotees have visited his shop to purchase items for offering prayers to the goddess during Navratri. He said that devotees’ common demands include Chunri, coconuts, Pan leaves, Chandan, Kalash and various other necessary pooja items.

Devotee Vanshika Singhal stated that she has completed all her shopping related to Navratri, having bought all the necessary items from various shops. This year, she also purchased a new idol of the goddess, which she plans to place in her home temple on the first day of Navratri. She added that since she fasts during all nine days of the festival, she has also bought fresh fruits for herself.

Many devotees have been seen finishing their last-minute preparations for Navratri. Additionally, temples have also been preparing for the celebration. A priest Jagmohan informed that with just one day to go before Navratri begins, the temple members cleaned the entire temple in the evening and changed the clothes of the idols. He further added that all preparations for Navratri have been completed.
