DG Health inspects facilities along Badrinath route

In order to ensure a ‘healthy’ Char Dham Yatra which has just commenced, the director general of Health, Uttarakhand, Dr Sunita Tamta inspected the medical health facilities set up in all the medical units along the Badrinath Dham route in Chamoli district. During the inspection, she took stock of the arrangements of the health units, first aid centres, health check-up centres, emergency services and the medical personnel deployed along the Yatra stretch and the shrine area.
She reviewed the availability of medicines, oxygen cylinders, life-saving equipment and ambulance services in hospitals and directed the officials concerned to ensure that all arrangements remain operational all through the Yatra. She emphasised the need to strengthen emergency preparedness, especially in view of the adverse weather conditions in the high altitude region.
During the inspection, while interacting with the health workers, she said that the health safety of the pilgrims coming for the Yatra is their top priority. All medical teams should remain alert and prepared to deal with any emergency, she stressed.
The chief medical officer, Dr Abhishek Gupta, chief medical superintendent, Dr Anurag Dhanik, additional chief medical officer, Dr Vaishnav Krishna, along with other health department officials and employees, were present on this occasion.
