DGP holds meeting with SDRF ahead of Char Dham Yatra and monsoon

The Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar has directed the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to deploy 50 trained personnel at the base points of trekking routes across the district who have climbed the mountain range of 20,000 feet.
The DGP held a meeting on Friday to discuss the arrangement of SDRF considering the ensuing Char Dham Yatra at the auditorium in the Police Headquarters (PHQ). The SDRF officials apprised the DGP about the available manpower, deployment of personnel and available types of equipment necessary to conduct rescue operations in case of emergencies. Considering all the points, the DGP issued necessary directions to SDRF. He asked to appoint four trained SDRF personnel in police stations and two personnel in police chowkis that fall on the Char Dham route. Considering the Chardham Yatra and monsoon, Kumar has directed the officials to not conduct the disaster and flood relief training of SDRF personnel in the next four months and start it from September.
He informed that permanent posts of SDRF will also be opened at Mori, Ghansali, Gairsain and Champawat. Besides this, a post will be opened in Dharchula too to run relief and rescue operations during this monsoon effectively. He also directed the SDRF officials to provide training to Aapada Mitra to efficiently conduct rescue operations during potential disasters or calamities. He directed the officials concerned to make all the required arrangements before the commencement of Char Dham Yatra and monsoon.
