Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday flagged off 23 Bolero Camper vehicles purchased under the CAMPA scheme by the Forest department, from the Chief Minister’s Camp Office. The initiative aims to strengthen forest and wildlife protection efforts in Uttarakhand. Speaking on the occasion, Dhami said that these vehicles will enhance surveillance in sensitive forest areas, thereby improving control over forest-related crimes.
He added that the vehicles will also be crucial for timely intervention in forest fire management and human-wildlife conflict incidents, ensuring swift rescue operations when needed. They will also play a vital role in monitoring afforestation campaigns and conducting rapid and effective relief and rescue operations during natural disasters like landslides and floods in forest and nearby regions, as per Dhami.
The forest minister Subodh Uniyal also stated that the CAMPA scheme’s budget has seen consistent growth over the past three years. An expenditure of Rs 237 crore was recorded in 2023-24, followed by Rs 302 crore in 2024-25. For the year 2025-26, an annual plan worth Rs 439.50 crore has been proposed and sent to the central government for approval under the CAMPA scheme, he said.
The event was also attended by Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Dhananjay Mohan and other senior officials of the department.
