The Dehradun district administration has deployed Quick Response Teams (QRTs) in waterlogging-prone and sensitive areas of Dehradun as rain continued across the district on Sunday, officials said. The district magistrate Ashish Chauhan said, “The teams are inspecting affected areas and checking drainage and traffic conditions to prevent disruption to public movement and ensure quick action during emergencies.”
Chauhan has directed QRT nodal officers and officials from different departments to remain active in the field. Teams from municipal bodies, the irrigation department, the public works department, police and the traffic department are monitoring their respective areas.
The DM said the administration had identified places where water had accumulated or drainage had been blocked. “Teams have been instructed to clear such problems quickly. Officials are also checking roads and other important routes to ensure that people can travel safely,” he said.
The DM is personally monitoring the rainfall situation and receiving regular updates from field officials, the administration said. Based on these reports, the DM has directed departments to take action wherever required.
The administration has asked officials to maintain coordination and reach sensitive locations immediately after receiving information about waterlogging or road blockages.
The administration has also appealed to residents to avoid unnecessary travel through waterlogged and other sensitive areas during heavy rain.
