The Nainital district information officer (DIO) Girija Shankar Joshi breathed his last, leaving the Information department and the journalist fraternity shocked. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and director general of Information Banshidhar Tiwari condoled his untimely demise.
Joshi was sharing government news and official updates in the Information Department’s WhatsApp group for journalists, as he did every day, when he suddenly complained of severe chest pain, his family members said. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Haldwani, where doctors declared him dead.
Members of the journalist fraternity described his death as an irreparable loss to the Information department and the media community. Colleagues recalled that Joshi regularly ensured that government information and news reached journalists on time and maintained a cordial and cooperative relationship with them.
