The residents of the provisional State capital Dehradun are continuing to get affected by the Swine Flu (H1N1) the cases of which are increasing at a rapid pace. The district Health department reported 21 new cases of the disease on Saturday which increased the patient count in the district this season to 453.
The chief medical officer (CMO) of Dehradun, Dr Manoj Sharma said that 86 samples were tested for Influenza H1 N1 on Saturday out of which 21 were tested positive. He said that a total of 1219 samples have been tested so far in the district out of which 453 have been tested positive. The CMO said that two patients suffering from H1N1 have died from the disease in the district till date. The data of the Health department shows that 378 patients have recovered from the disease so far in the district. Out of the 73 active cases, 45 patients are receiving treatment at Shri Mahant Indiresh hospital, four at Himalayan Institute and five at Graphic Era, two at Government Doon Medical College hospital, 13 at AIIMS Rishikesh and four at Kailash hospital.
Swine flu is a viral disease, its virus is also called H1 N1 and its genetic analysis has shown that it has originated from the animals especially pigs hence it is called Swine flu. The virus spreads from person to person similar to that of seasonal influenza.
