Discussion on IS 26001:2024 held at BIS Doon’s Manak Manthan program

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Dehradun branch organised a brainstorming programme on the topic ‘Manak Manthan – Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Requirements, IS 26001:2024’ here on Wednesday. The MLA, Dharampur, Vinod Chamoli, who was the chief guest at the programme, described CSR as an important medium for sustainable development, social responsibility and industry-society coordination.
The president, Industry Association of Uttarakhand, Pankaj Gupta shared his views on effective implementation of CSR in industries and the benefits of adopting IS 26001:2024.
The scientist ‘D’ and member secretary, Technical Committee, Rajiv Ranjan while participating in the programme virtually gave a detailed presentation on the statutory requirements related to CSR and various technical aspects of IS 26001:2024.
During the programme, the director and head, BIS Dehradun branch, Saurabh Tiwari gave detailed information on the role of BIS, utility of Standard Manthan programme in the standardisation process and importance of Management System Certification.
More than 80 participants from industry, consumer organisations and academic institutions participated in the event. The participants described IS 26001:2024 as an important step toward making CSR activities structured, transparent and effective.
The objective of the programme was to make industries and other stakeholders aware of the requirements of Indian Standard IS 26001:2024 related to CSR and to establish dialogue for its effective implementation, Tiwari said.
