District administration dispatches about 1.5 lakh smart ration cards
The Dehradun district administration has issued over 80,000 smart ration cards in the last two months while the distribution of about 70,000 smart ration cards is under process.
Informing about this, the district supply officer (DSO), Jaswant Singh Kandari added that about 3,75,000 beneficiaries are registered in the district and so far, 40 per cent smart ration cards has been dispatched to be issued by the administration. According to him, the smart ration cards are being issued through some fair price shops, supply offices in the urban areas and through the officials in Gram Panchayats in rural areas of the district. He stated that the beneficiaries are bringing their old ration cards, Aadhaar cards and paying Rs 17 to get the new smart ration card. Kandari said that the distribution of remaining smart ration cards will start as soon as the administration receives the printed ration cards.
“The company that prints the smart ration cards is selected by the State government. The company also prints the cards for other districts. So when we receive the remaining ration cards, we will start their distribution too,” said Kandari.
