The department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, organised a Digital Life Certificate (DLC) 4.0 camp for pensioners in Chamba, New Tehri, on Friday. This initiative is part of the nationwide DLC Campaign 4.0, which runs from November 1 to November 30, 2025. The campaign aims to assist pensioners in submitting their life certificates through various digital methods across over 2,000 cities and towns in the country.
According to officials, on Friday, camps were held for pensioners in Chamba. The department director Divya AB, attended the DLC camps at the State Bank of India (Mussoorie Road), Union Bank of India and India Post Payments Bank in Chamba. During her visit, she interacted with pensioners utilising the digital services. Officials from these banks assisted the pensioners in submitting their DLCs using face authentication technology and provided information about the process. Camps were held at branch offices and head post offices, and some senior pensioners received DLC services directly at their homes.
AB said that the campaign has been successful in raising awareness about the importance of submitting DLC. Daily progress is monitored through the NIC DLC portal, which allows real-time tracking of data submitted by banks and departments. She emphasised the department’s commitment to simplifying the lives of pensioners and promoting digital empowerment through ongoing technology-driven reforms, including the DLC Campaign.
Additionally, the department is advocating the use of Aadhaar-based face authentication technology, introduced in 2021. This technology enables pensioners to submit their life certificates from home using smartphones. In the current DLC 4.0 initiative (2025), preliminary reports indicate record participation, with a target of achieving 20 million DLCs through collaborative efforts from banks, IPPB, UIDAI, the ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, CGDA, Railways and pensioners’ welfare associations.
