School principal suspended for ignoring orders, misbehaving with parents

The management of the Sri Guru Ram Rai Public School, EC Road has suspended the school principal with immediate effect for not complying with directions of senior officials and allegedly misbehaving with parents of the students.

The management has issued orders for suspending the principal Shaila Joshi till the probe into the allegations is completed. The management stated that as the principal was the head of the school, there appear to be serious shortcomings in her discharge of her duties and responsibilities. It stated that the case needs to be investigated to maintain discipline and ensure smooth functioning of the school. During the suspension period, she will receive a subsistence allowance and will be required to ensure her presence at SGRR Public School, Kalidas Road to cooperate in the probe.

According to officials, Joshi had refused to grant admission in class IX to a student of the school who had passed the class VIII examination. She had reportedly told the student’s parents to secure admission in another school and pressurised them.

A parent of the student complained about this in the office of the chief education officer. The parent had stated that the school is near his residence, due to which he wants his ward to study there. Other parents also complained to the chief education officer’s office stating that the principal had misbehaved with them. The chief education officer VK Dhaundiyal had directed Joshi to admit the said student in the school but she did not comply. She was called to the CEO’s office for a hearing but did not appear.
