In a ghastly incident, 33-year-old Vishnu Chauhan allegedly murdered his wife Varsha (28 years) in a fit of rage during a domestic quarrel. The incident happened at Bayana village under Maneri police station limits on Friday. After committing the crime, the accused fled, but police arrested him within a few hours and sent him to jail.
When the police reached the spot, they found Varsha lying in a pool of blood in the toilet. She was immediately brought to Uttarkashi district hospital where doctors declared her dead.
On the complaint of the deceased’s father, Chattar Singh Panwar, the police registered a case of murder against the accused.
Vishnu is stated to have confessed his crime during interrogation, saying that amidst domestic quarrel, he had first attacked his wife with a sickle and then strangled her with a dupatta.
