Dehradun mayor Saurabh Thapliyal appealed to the citizens of the city to celebrate Holi in a safe and eco-friendly manner. He said this while celebrating Holi with officers and employees at the office of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Monday.
The programme was organised at the civic body’s premises where the mayor applied gulal to officials and staff and exchanged greetings.
Thapliyal thanked municipal employees for their work in maintaining cleanliness and carrying out development activities across the city. He said that the sanitation staff and field workers perform their duties daily to ensure waste collection, road cleaning, drainage maintenance and other essential services continue without disruption.
Addressing the gathering, the mayor said that the Holi is a festival that reflects harmony and unity. He added that festivals also bring additional responsibility for civic agencies, especially in maintaining cleanliness in public places and residential areas.
He said that the corporation has been working to improve basic civic facilities in different wards and acknowledged the role of employees in these efforts. He noted that the coordination between departments has helped maintain services during peak periods.
The mayor appealed to residents to celebrate a safe and eco-friendly Holi and to cooperate with sanitation workers in keeping the city clean during the festival.
