Doon police arrest prime accused of Maharashtra Reliance Jewels robbery case

The Dehradun police on Tuesday arrested the prime accused in the Maharashtra Reliance Jewels robbery case, Anil Soni from Haryana’s Yamunanagar. He was also allegedly involved in the Dehradun Reliance Jewels robbery case, the officials said. They informed that Soni committed the robbery in a jewellery store in Maharashtra’s Sangli in July last year.
He had presented himself as deputy superintendent of police in Sangri to commit the robbery worth about Rs 15 crore along with his accomplices. He was absconded in the case since then, as per the officials. They said that Soni was allegedly involved in conducting a recce of the Rajpur Road located Reliance Jewels showroom and the nearby areas to make a plan for the robbery. The Dehradun police arrested him on Tuesday and will conduct a detailed interrogation after bringing him to Dehradun, officials said.
