As part of the safety arrangements and preparations ahead of Lok Sabha elections, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh to keep a vigilant eye on sensitive information and issues that can potentially affect the electoral process. He also directed the officials to assess the police force to be deployed for security at polling stations located at sensitive and highly sensitive places in the district. He stated this in a meeting held on Sunday with senior police officials of the district.
He instructed the officials to continuously run intensive checking campaigns at the border check posts due to the strong possibility of smuggling of illegal liquor during the elections. He also ordered to take strict action under the Gangster and Goonda Act against those people involved in criminal activities who can influence the election process and can disturb law and order. He asked all police station in-charges to physically inspect the polling stations located in their respective areas and ensure the timely completion of all the basic arrangements for voting.
They were also asked to identify the places for the security forces coming from outside to stay during the Lok Sabha elections and to ensure all the basic arrangements in time at those places. No ignorance will be tolerated regarding any safety arrangements associated with Lok Sabha elections, SSP added.
