The first Pravasi Uttarakhandi Sammelan – the conclave of non-resident Uttarakhandis- will be organised on Sunday. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will address the inaugural session of the conclave. Panel discussions on investment opportunities in various sectors (manufacturing, power generation, start-up), hospitality and wellness, skill development, overseas employment and higher education and horticulture, herbal medicines and aromatic plants will be held during the one day conclave.
The enthusiasm among the non-resident Uttarakhandis for the conclave is clearly palpable. On Saturday most of the participants from 17 countries arrived in Dehradun. They were welcomed at the airport and hotels in the traditional manner.
Anita Sharma of United States of America (USA) said that the welcome accorded to her made her nostalgic. Shalendra Negi who has come from UAE expressed gratitude to CM Dhami for organising the conclave and the traditional welcome.
The organisers of the conclave informed that many non-resident Uttarakhandis who have earned a reputation in the countries they are residing will attend the conclave. Girish Chandra Pant from Dubai, Dev Raturi from China, Anita Sharma from USA, Bhuwan Tiwari from Japan, Sunil Thapliyal from Singapore and Dr S K Kala from Thailand will attend the conclave. Many of the attendees have also participated in the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas organised at Bhubaneswar by the government of India.
Dhami had visited many countries to promote the International Investment Summit which was held in December 2013. In his visit to the foreign countries he was accorded a warm welcome by the non-resident Uttarakhandis. To take the benefit of the experiences of non-resident Uttarakhandis, the CM had directed the officers to set up a special cell for them. He also asked the authorities to organise a conclave of non-resident Uttarakhandis in Dehradun. It is pertinent to mention here that the State government had organised a conclave for people of the State settled in other states of the country on November 7 last year.
