Doon University will conduct entrance examinations for candidates seeking enrollment in undergraduate and postgraduate courses on July 7 and July 8. Informing this, the registrar Durgesh Dimri said that the online application process had begun on April 27 and concluded on June 7. “Initially, the entrance examination was scheduled to take place earlier; however, due to a higher-than-expected number of applications, the date was postponed. Many students applied for multiple courses, which significantly increased the overall applicant numbers and made it challenging to secure adequate examination centres. As a result, the entrance examinations are now set for July 7 and July 8,” he added.
Dimri further informed that the entrance examination will cover all UG courses and some PG courses, as certain PG programmes received enough applications similar to available seats. “These selections will be based on departmental interviews,” he stated.
The entrance examinations will be held in four cities: Dehradun, Delhi, Haldwani and Lucknow. In Dehradun, there will be four examination centres, while the other cities will each have one centre. The examinations will be conducted in three sessions each day: from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM, and 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
Dimri said that a total of 5,300 online applications have been received and approximately 4,400 students would take the entrance examination. This is due to multiple course applications, among others, he added.
Notably, the online application process originally started on April 27 and was set to conclude on May 31. However, due to high demand from candidates, the university extended the registration period till June 7.
Importantly, Doon University offers 20 undergraduate courses and 49 postgraduate courses. In accordance with the National Education Policy, the postgraduate programmes are categorised into two types: two-year and one-year programmes. Among the 49 postgraduate courses, 26 are two-year programmes and 23 are one-year programmes.
