RPI seeks three Vidhan Sabha seats from BJP for Uttarakhand polls

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Republican Party of India (Athawale) has sought three Vidhan Sabha tickets in Uttarakhand for the 2027 Assembly polls. The party’s State president Sethpal Singh met the Bharatiya Janata Party national president Nitin Nabin to communicate this demand.

Considering that the RPI (A) is part of the National Democratic Alliance at the Centre, Singh stressed that the party should be provided a fair share in Uttarakhand, while submitting a memorandum to Nabin in this regard. Interacting with the media after the meeting, he said that there is hope for the party’s demand to be considered. The issue will be pursued further by the party’s high command in the near future, he said.

It will be recalled that during his previous visit to Uttarakhand, Union minister of State and the party’s chief Ramdas Athawale had stated that the party will contest 20 to 25 Vidhan Sabha seats on its own if it doesn’t reach a collaborative agreement with the BJP for the coming Assembly polls.
