Doon’s temperature dips to below 7°C, rain and snowfall awaited in mountains

The temperature dipped a degree below normal in Dehradun on Tuesday with residents waking up to a chilly morning. The minimum temperature is likely to remain low in Dehradun and other parts of the State on Wednesday. The State Meteorological Centre has also issued a yellow warning regarding the possibility of moderate to dense fog likely to occur at some places in the plains, especially in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts today. The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 25 degrees Celsius and seven degrees Celsius respectively.

Though the maximum temperature in Dehradun remained above normal, the minimum dropped below normal on Tuesday. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Tuesday were 26 degrees Celsius and 6.7 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 16.1 degrees Celsius and 10.1 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 20.7 degrees Celsius and seven degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 22 degrees Celsius and 7.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.

It is pertinent to mention here that the mountainous areas of the State have yet to witness the spells of snowfall and rain which were generally experienced during the winter in past years.  This has affected the weather, resulting in dry cold and also impacted the agriculture in mountainous regions of the State.
