As farmers across Uttarakhand prepare their fields for the Rabi sowing season, timely access to quality seeds and informed crop-nutrition practices assumes particular importance. KRIBHCO’s Seed Processing Unit at Rudrapur produced 13,111.20 quintals of wheat seed during 2025–26, while the cooperative continues to engage with farmers in the state through programmes focused on soil health, balanced fertiliser use and improved agricultural practices.

Speaking at a media workshop held by the Forum for Indian Journalists on Education, Environment, Health and Agriculture (FIJEEHA), in collaboration with GreyMatters Communications and Consulting, Jaber Singh, Uttarakhand State Marketing Manager, KRIBHCO, highlighted the cooperative’s work in farmer education, seed production and agricultural outreach across Uttarakhand. Farmer education remains a key component of KRIBHCO’s activities in the state. During 2025–26, the cooperative organised three crop seminars involving 285 participants. These programmes covered KRIBHCO products and developments in wheat varieties. Fourteen farmers’ meetings addressed balanced fertiliser use, soil testing and the correct method of soil sample collection.

“Our programmes in Uttarakhand are designed to take agricultural knowledge directly to farmers. The participation in our farmers’ meetings and soil-testing campaigns reflects the importance of practical guidance on balanced fertiliser use and soil health. We will continue to engage with farmers and cooperative institutions to encourage informed input use and better farming practices,” Singh said.
