Drone use restricted near FRI ahead of PM Modi’s visit

In view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to the Forest Research Institute in Dehradun on Sunday, the police announced that drone operations will remain fully restricted at the venue and adjoining areas. Senior officials, including the ADG (Intelligence/Security) Abhinav Kumar and ADG (Law and Order) V Murugesan  briefed the deployed police force at Police Lines on Friday. They reviewed security planning for the VVIP movement and instructed officials to remain alert. Officials directed personnel to reach their duty locations three hours in advance, obtain instructions from their supervisors and conduct checks in and around their assigned areas. Entry at the main venue will be allowed only after proper frisking of authorised persons and their vehicles. Only previously cleared individuals will be allowed to meet the VVIP after anti-sabotage checks. Security teams will check all visitors at entry and exit points and no person will be allowed to carry items inside the venue. Crowds will be guided to exit in an orderly manner after the event. The VVIP route in-charge officers have been asked to inspect the entire route and ensure it is clear. Parking for VIPs, the public and police vehicles will be conducted only at designated areas. Police will conduct checks at Jollygrant and nearby areas to identify suspicious persons. The police and dog squads will check high-rise buildings, water tanks and other structures along the VVIP route and venue. Station officers will run verification drives at dharamshalas, hotels, bus stations and railway stations.
