Duo arrested for stealing Rs 10 lakh from school chairman

The Haridwar police have arrested two men accused of stealing Rs 10 lakh from the office of a private school chairman here last month. The police have also recovered about Rs 4.5 lakh cash from the accused along with a motorcycle reportedly purchased with stolen cash.
In the wee hours of December 29, unknown persons had stolen Rs 10 lakh from the office room of UC Jain the chairman of Wisdom Global School in the Jwalapur area. Superintendent of police (City) Swatantra Kumar Singh said that the theft was discovered when Jain entered his room in the morning. Apart from forensics, the police also scanned the CCTV camera footage which helped them find an important clue. The police narrowed down on two suspects including the driver of the chairman. When the police reached the driver’s home in Champawat to verify his address, it was learnt that he had recently visited his home. He was traced back to Haridwar. The police questioned the driver and the other suspect who confessed to having committed the crime. The accused have been identified as Manoj and Anand, both natives of Champawat.
