ED raids Harak’s premises in Pakhro construction case

In latest news from Doon, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) team reached the residence of the senior Congress leader Harak Singh Rawat in Defence Colony to investigate the alleged forest land scam. Simultaneously, it conducted raids on 16 properties across Delhi, Chandigarh and Uttarakhand. Sources said that the raids were conducted in connection with the scam related to illegal construction carried out in the Pakhro range of Corbett Tiger Reserve, Ramnagar when Rawat was the State’s forest minister. Notably, the Uttarakhand High Court had ordered a CBI inquiry into the alleged scam pertaining to forest land in January 2022. Acting on the HC order, the CBI had raided the residences of the former divisional forest officer Kisan Chand and the former ranger Dehradun Brij Bihari Sharma and seized some documents in course of these raids. It was then that the name of Harak Singh Rawat came to fore.
