DM directs officers to gear up for forest fire

In latest news from Uttarakhand, chairing a meeting of the district forest fire safety committee, the district magistrate Mayur Dixit directed the officers concerned to exercise maximum alert in the wild fire season while taking all steps to prevent and douse the wild blaze. While stressing on staging street plays to arouse awareness among the people, he urged the members of Yuva and Mahila Mangal Dals to register complaint against those who ignite forest fire without delay.
DM also directed officers to keep fire-fighting tools and vehicles ready in adequate numbers for emergencies. Besides, he laid stress on cleaning the roads of the inflammable Pirul leaves and cutting bushes around houses.
DFO, Tehri, Puneet Tomar said that 52 crew stations have been set up in Tehri forest division, 69 in Narendranagar forest division, 22 in Mussoorie forest division, 23 in Tehri Dam forest division-I and eight in Tehri Dam forest division-II. Mock drills have been conducted in all the divisions and public awareness programmes are being run, he added.
