The educationist Lalit Joshi, who is also the president of CIMS & UIHMT Group of Colleges, Dehradun, and Sajjag India, has been presented with the ‘Nasha Mukt Mitra Award’ by the Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Virendra Kumar. He received this honour for his contribution in running public awareness campaigns against drug abuse in schools, colleges and among various sections of society for over 15 years.
The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment organised the ‘Drug Free India Week’ from June 17 to June 26. The campaign concluded with a state-level function organised at Dev Sanskriti University, Haridwar, on the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
In his address, Virendra Kumar said that the goal of a drug-free India would be achieved only when every citizen of the society joined this campaign and made continuous efforts to keep the youth away from drugs.
Among the dignitaries present were the state Higher Education and Cooperation minister Dhan Singh Rawat, Social Welfare and Minority Welfare minister Khajan Das and the vice-chancellor of Dev Sanskriti University Chinmay Pandya.
