The State government employee associations have strongly objected to the directions of some district magistrates for linking salary disbursal for March 2025 with marriage registration on Uniform Civil Code (UCC) portal.
The State Employees Joint Federation has written a letter to chief secretary Radha Raturi in which it has demanded immediate ban on the order of some DMs in which they have said that only the employees who have registered their marriage on UCC portal should be given the salary for the month of March 2025.
The president of the federation, Arun Pandey said that the Uttarakhand government has not made it mandatory for the employees to register their marriage in the UCC portal till March 2025. However DMs of Pauri, Chamoli and Nainital have directed the district treasury officers to hold the salaries for the month of March of the employees who have failed to register their marriage on the UCC portal. He said that the federation strongly condemns such orders and has demanded that the State government should ask the DMs to immediately revoke such orders.
Pandey said that the DMs should organise marriage registration camps at district and Tehsil levels for the employees.
