Pledge made on third anniversary of announcement of summer capital status to Gairsain
On the third anniversary of his historic declaration of granting the status of the summer capital to Gairsain, former chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat set an example for others by pledging to donate his eyes and body organs after death. His daughters Kriti Rawat and Srija Rawat also followed the footsteps of their father by signing on the papers of organ and eye donation.
The former CM and his daughters took the pledge of eye and organ donation by signing papers of the Dadhichi Dehdan Samiti, Dehradun. It is pertinent to mention here that apart from being involved in active politics Trivendra Singh Rawat also remains active in social activities. He is keenly interested in plantation drives, river rejuvenation works, blood donation camps and remains involved in campaigns to protect the environment.
The day Gairsain was declared summer capital in 2020
On March 4, 2020 the then CM Trivendra Singh Rawat had surprised everyone by announcing on the floor of the State Assembly at Bharadisain that Gairsain would be made the summer capital of Uttarakhand. The Rawat government followed the declaration by issuing a notification on June 8, 2020 for making Gairsain the summer capital of Uttarakhand. While making the declaration Rawat had also said that the Gairsain would be made a separate commissionerate by carving districts out from existing Kumaon and Garhwal commissionerates. However this decision was rolled back by the BJP government after Rawat was asked to step down from the position of CM.
