Expedite land transfer process for Sainya Dham- Minister

The soldier welfare and industries minister Ganesh Joshi has said that the state government has decided that houses of every martyred soldier from World War I till date would be visited by the officials and a letter of honour would be handed over to their families. A handful of earth from the houses of martyrs would be taken and brought at the proposed martyrs memorial ( Sainya Dham) in Dehradun. Presiding over a meeting of the department officials here on Tuesday the minister directed that the work on transfer of land for the proposed Sainya Dham should be expedited.

He said that the Uttarakhand Purva sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL) would construct a ‘UPNL building’ at the land provided for the Dham.

The minister said that Uttarakhand is land of brave people and every fifth soldier of the country belongs to Uttarakhand. He said that the state government has prepared a road map for construction of Sainya Dham which would be the fifth Dham in the state. The minister said that every possible preparation should be done to combat the pandemic of Covid in the state and directed the officials to appoint health workers from UPNL wherever needed. He said that the state health department has sent a requirement of 1300 workers and UPNL has provided 800 employees so far. The minister said that the objective of UPNL is to provide employment to soldiers and their families.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary L Fennai, Secretary revenue Sushil Kumar, Managing Director of UPNL Brigadier ( Retd) PPS Pahwa and others.
