The police on Monday arrested the man who had allegedly killed his two daughters in Udham Singh Nagar’s Kashipur area. He has claimed that they were possessed by supernatural forces like Jinn and he was trying to exorcise them, said the senior superintendent of police Manjunath TC. He said that the accused and his whole family believe in black magic and the father had also allegedly abused other children in the name of possession by supernatural forces. TC said that the police on Saturday morning received a complaint about a house in Mohalla Khaliq Colony at Kashipur stating that neighbours had reportedly heard strange noises from there and nobody was opening the door for hours. When the police reached there, they found the bodies of two girls named Farhin (19) and Yasmeen (11) which had several marks of injuries on their bodies. There were also marks on their necks that appeared like somebody had strangulated them. It appeared that both the girls had reportedly died due to severe beating and strangulation. “When the police reached the spot, they noticed that only a girl and a boy, siblings of the deceased, were present at the spot while their father Ali Hassan and another brother were missing. The death of both the girls appeared extremely suspicious after which the forensic team, dog squad and several senior police officials reached the spot to gather maximum evidence in the case,” the SSP said. He said that the police came to know during the investigation that the father of the victims was a mason but he was mainly involved in black magic and occultism. The police also allegedly found a slaughtered chicken, some money and traces of blood in an empty plot near the house.
The police took the whole family into custody on Saturday morning to interrogate them. TC said that the whole family claimed that both girls were possessed by a Jinn and the father was just trying to free their daughters from his possession. “Even when we told the father about his daughters’ death, he claimed that his daughters were just unconscious as the Jinn had left their bodies. When he finally accepted that they had died, he said that Chudail (witch) had taken his daughters. Neither he nor his children have gone to school but all believe in supernatural forces. We also came to know during interrogation that he had also reportedly broken two fingers of his son and damaged an eye of another son believing they were possessed by some supernatural forces. The children were just ill and needed medical help but the father termed this as a case of possession by supernatural forces,” said SSP. He said that the father is still claiming that the Jinn killed his daughters and not him but the police have sufficient evidence against him.
