The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Suryakant Dhasmana has said that the Khurbuda fire incident exposes the pathetic condition of disaster management in the State. He said that the incidents of forest fires in the State have witnessed a five-fold increase this year. Dhasmana said that the fire brigade arrived at Chabeel Bagh, Khurbuda one and half hour after it was summoned and it informs about the status of disaster management machinery in the State.
He said that the people were angry as the fire brigade arrived at the spot after 30 houses were gutted in the fire. The Congress leader said that in a recent interview the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that an effective disaster management system has been set in place in Uttarakhand. He said that the claim of PM has been exposed in the recent cases of fire in the State.
Dhasmana said that the area affected by fire on Monday is located between Rajpur and Dehradun Cantt assembly segments and both these constituencies are represented by BJP MLAs. He said that the residence of the State president of BJP is also near the area where the fire incident occurred. Dhasmana said that it is unfortunate that no public representative of BJP reached the spot and extended helping hand to the poor families affected by the inferno.
