The first batch of pilgrims has left for Hemkund Sahib from Rishikesh. The chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami has flagged them off. Notably, the portals of Hemkund Sahib are opening on May 20. Three counters have been set up in Rishikesh for the registration of this pilgrimage. With the pilgrimage path remaining under snow, the army jawans and others are engaged in clearing snow from the Hemkund Sahib route. A ban remains imposed on the travel of the elderly people and those with blood pressure, sugar and asthma to Hemkund Sahib.
