First instalment of PMAY-U 2.0 released to five beneficiaries released under BLC component, Rs 2.42 crore sanctioned for 88 houses

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Friday released the first instalment of housing assistance to five beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0.

Dehradun mayor Saurabh Thapliyal handed over the assistance during a programme held in the city. Each beneficiary received Rs 20,000 under the Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC) component, taking the total disbursed amount in this tranche to Rs one lakh.Speaking on the occasion,

Thapliyal stated that the corporation is working to ensure the timely release of funds and the monitoring of construction progress so that eligible urban households can complete their permanent housing under the scheme without delay.

The officials said that the funds were transferred directly into bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system to ensure transparency and timely delivery. Officials further informed that out of 88 approved beneficiaries under the scheme in the city, 87 have already received financial support through the SNA Sparsh portal, the digital platform used for tracking and releasing housing subsidies.

Under PMAY-U 2.0, the Government of India has sanctioned Rs 2.42 crore for 88 eligible beneficiaries in Dehradun, at a rate of Rs 2.75 lakh per beneficiary, to support the construction of permanent houses for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS). So far, the MCD has received Rs 88 lakh toward the implementation of the project. Municipal commissioner Namami Bansal, social development expert Ramesh Singh Chauhan and scheme assistant Ravindra Kumar also met the beneficiaries and their family members at the event.
