The Kumbh Mela administration has started gearing up to ensure that the processions of Dev Dolis coming from across Uttarakhand for Kumbh snan are memorable for the pilgrims. On the instructions of the State government, Uttarakhand’s folk culture, tradition and faith will be displayed during the duration of the religious congregation, the Mela administration said.
To take stock of the ongoing preparations, a meeting was held at the Mela control room here on Friday chaired by the Mela officer Sonika. The subjects like the bathing of the Dev Dolis, date of the procession, travel route, stopping points and traditional operational arrangements were discussed in detail. Public representatives and those promoting folk culture aside from the officers from the Mela administration and several departments participated in the meeting.
The Mela officer Sonika said that this event would showcase Uttarakhand’s rich religious traditions and folk culture to the nation as well as the world. “Appropriate cultural programmes will be organised in Haridwar upon the arrival of the Dev Dolis,” she said.
The meeting further decided that coordinators would be appointed for both Garhwal and Kumaon divisions and the dates of the events would be decided based on auspicious times
