Five bodies recovered from landslide debris in Rudraprayag
CM inspects disaster affected areas in Kotdwar, directs swift action to restore normalcy

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) recovered the bodies of five persons who were in a vehicle which was buried in landslide debris in the Tarsali area of Rudraprayag district on Thursday. On Thursday, the SDRF responded to information about a vehicle getting buried in landslide debris in the area. The team began the search operation but it was hampered by heavy rain and rocks consistently falling from the mountain. The SDRF team resumed the search operation on Friday morning and after clearing debris and boulders, five bodies were recovered from the wreck of a car. The process to identify the bodies is underway. Locals informed that the vehicle was going from Fata towards Sonprayag when it got buried in landslide debris.
Meanwhile, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the disaster affected areas of Kotdwar on Friday. He directed that the work to restore disrupted connectivity should be undertaken on a war footing along with provision of relief materials to the affected persons. He directed officials to expedite work on the approach road from Govindghat to Kumbhichaud-Ratanpur and restore connectivity on the Haldukhata-Kishanpur-Sigaddi road across the Malan river. Relief should be provided without delay to people affected by disasters in various locations, he said. The CM said that the aim of the State government is to restore normalcy after disruption and damage caused by rains in the State.
Kotdwar MLA and Vidhan Sabha speaker Ritu Khanduri thanked the CM for visiting the disaster affected areas and directing officials to work towards restoring the situation in the affected areas.
