Free two-wheeler parking provided for Kanwadiyas in Haridwar

The Haridwar district administration is providing free two-wheeler parking facilities for Kanwadiyas arriving here. On the directions of district magistrate Mayur Dixit, the free parking is being facilitated at Rodi Belwala by the police, administration and Transport department in coordination.

Assistant regional transport officer (Enforcement) Neha Jha is heading the department team managing the facility. She said that a large number of Kanwadiyas are reaching Haridwar on two-wheelers with departmental staff present at the site to facilitate the systematic parking of these vehicles. It is estimated that upto four lakh two-wheelers have arrived at this parking facility so far. With the Kanwad Yatra nearing its concluding phase, the number of visitors is expected to peak. Considering this, special focus is being laid on parking arrangements.

Transport department officials are deployed throughout the day at the parking facility. The ARTO said that the aim of the administration is to provide better facilities to Lord Shiva’s devotees arriving in Haridwar so that they do not face any problems in parking their vehicles. The free parking facility has provided relief to a large number of two-wheeler users, she added. One of the Kanwadiyas, Bhola Sharma from Vrindavan in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh said that he had witnessed such a free parking facility for the first time in Haridwar.
