The State government will focus on development of the Haridwar-Rishikesh Ganga Corridor considering the requirements of the next 25 years. This was the main subject of discussion when Haridwar MLA and former cabinet minister Madan Kaushik met the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the CM’s residence here on Sunday. During their meeting, the chief minister said that the suggestions given by public representatives will also be included in the works to be executed for development of the Ganga corridor. Dhami further informed that in the works being proposed at present the buildings located in the corridor area will not be demolished. The beautification work of the corridor will be undertaken without any demolition, he said. The CM further stressed that the form and appearance of the ancient sites will not be changed but be kept in its original form. Dhami further informed that open space will be developed in Haridwar and Rishikesh as part of the Ganga corridor project. Among other effects, the development of such open spaces will also help in reducing the crowding on special occasions when multitudes throng to bathe in the Ganga river.
