Gangrape victim refuses to return home with father

The 16-year-old girl, who was allegedly gangraped by five men inside an Uttarakhand roadways bus parked at Dehradun ISBT has refused to go back with her father. The Dehradun district probation officer Meena Bisht told The Pioneer that the girl’s father had travelled to Dehradun from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh on Monday to meet her and take her home. However, the girl refused to return with him right now. She said, “The girl was going to stay here anyway considering the ongoing investigation. She will remain at Balika Niketan for a few more days as the investigation continues. We will revisit this topic again after a few days to know if she wants to return home.” Bisht also informed that the victim’s medical examination has been completed and she is currently in stable physical health. She said that the victim has been receiving regular counselling sessions at Balika Niketan via counsellors and psychiatrists. “All steps are being taken to ensure she feels safe and stays healthy physically and mentally considering the recent incident. Further decisions will be taken considering her overall welfare,” she added.
Besides this, the police also informed that the minor’s medical report has been received and included in the investigation.
